I grew up during the 80s with posters of Michael Jackson, Prince and New Edition on my wall next to Madonna, George Michael and LL Cool J.
My favorite songs came from Pop, Hip Hop and R&B. While I had an appreciation for some rock (Bon Jovi comes to mind immediately), I never considered myself a rock fan. I’m definitely not a hard rock fan.
So when the opportunity to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland came up I was okay with going, but not ecstatic. I vaguely remembered a few inductees, but until I walked through the door I had not made the connection.
OH. MY! the Rock Hall of Fame is AWESOME! It’s a multi-story contemporary building with artifacts from so many genres of music.
There’s Michael Jackson, Mahalia Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Run DMC… the list is endless.
One of my favorite things was Al Green’s leather pants from THIS album cover!
There are so many things here – a car from Elvis, handwritten lyrics from various artists, costumes, guitars, almost anything that you can imagine.
If you are a fan of any kind of American music you should absolutely visit. I can’t wait to go back with Hubby, but I’ll plan it for summer. Winter in Cleveland leaves a little to be desired for this Southern Girl.
