Girls Rock Birthday Cake and Party Favor Bags

Girls Birthday Party Idea – Girls Rock! Dance Party

When my girls requested a disco ball and Soul Train line for their dance birthday party I knew we were going to have a ball. I was right! They danced, laughed and played for over an hour. Then we served pizza, ate cake and danced some more.

For a house full of 4- to 8- year olds to have so much fun and me not have to plan much made this one of my favorite kid’s parties so far.

Here’s how I did it…

I bought a disco ball from Lowe’s Home Improvement. Next I went to Target and picked up the invitations, streamers, balloons, tablecloths, tissue paper for the favor bags, napkins, and dance-inspired plates from their Spritz party supplies line. I then made a playlist of their favorite songs, ordered the cake from Wal-Mart and ordered chairs from a local party rental store. I stopped by Michael’s for the favor bag and bought necklaces from Claire’s as the party favor.

The day before the party I went to Wal-Mart and picked up the cake, chips, juice, forks, soda, water and a fruit tray. I also cleaned out the playroom (this is where I sat up the dining area).

The day of the party we blew up balloons in the morning. Then we set up the dance room aka my living room by hanging balloons and streamers and turning on the disco ball.

dancepartydiningNext was the dining area. A few plastic tablecloths, streamers, balloons and a cake table and we were good to go. As an added bonus, the gift bags were used to add color to the cake table and ring pops were put in bowls as a centerpiece. This also helped with clean-up, :-) .

As guests arrived they were ushered into the living room where they danced and played with the extra balloons strewn about on the floor. It’s amazing how much fun kids can have when given free play time.

Twenty minutes before snack time I ordered pizza. We served pizza, fruit and juice boxes. There was also soda and water for the adults.

After singing and serving cake the girls wanted to dance some more, so the dance floor was reopened. It was a great party and now we have the disco ball to use whenever the mood hits for a Soul Train line, :-) .

One more thing…

Here’s a free printable from my Girls Dance Party  that includes a shopping list, menu and more.
