Chocolate Honey… Need I Say More?!

Certain places you hold dear because of what happened there (proposals, met someone special, etc.). For me, The Atherton Market in Charlotte is where I first experienced Cloister Honey’s CHOCOLATE whipped honey. I was there to buy locally-harvested honey, but never did I imagine I would find some with chocolate! Now it is a breakfast staple for my waffles and toast. It is also proof that chocolate can make something great even better, .

ReCharge Snack Mixes, New Addition To 3 O’Clock Rotation

Expecting me to avoid the snack machine at 3 o’clock is like asking me to walk past the chocolate chip cookies and not touch. Yeah, the likelihood of that happening is VERY slim. Well, it was until I tried ReCharge® snack mixes. I was offered the opportunity to review these snack mixes and I figured why not. If there’s a healthy option for my mid-afternoon “pick me up,” I consider that a winning choice. Especially if it tastes good. The samples came in three varieties, Super Charged Cranberry Blend, Dark Chocolate Energy Boost and my surprising favorite, Chia ReCharge...

Sweet Tea Anyone?

I’m not real big on make-up, but give me a good body scrub or lotion and I am in heaven. Actually, give me a skincare product that smells divine and actually works, and I am hooked! That’s exactly what happened when I bought the Sweet Tea soap and lotion from Charleston Soap Chef during the Southern Women’s Show. Trust me, it is FAB.U.LOUS! It smells just like sweet tea, and not in an overbearing, too sweet way. Another bonus, my girls kept wanting hugs so they could smell me, .

Did You See The Help Movie?

I went to see The Help this past weekend as a Girls Day Out. I had only read half of the book, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, other than an uplifting and heartfelt movie. Funny thing, I enjoyed the movie, but my many emotions (anger, sadness, disbelief, joy) did not include warm and fuzzy. Of course there is the racial tension, but that wasn’t a big eye-opener for me. I was captivated by the relationships between the women. The so-called bonds of friendship, the mother-daughter dynamics, the alienation because of misunderstandings, the decisions made in order to...

My First Time at Myrtle Beach State Park

Last year when I was planning my 35th birthday weekend there were a few things on my ”must-have” list: clear water, warm sand, a cookout/picnic area close to the water and sand, space for my girls and guests to play on or off the beach and clean restrooms nearby. Myrtle Beach State Park provided all of this and more. For a very reasonable cost (about $40) I was able to rent a picnic shelter extremely close to the water. It had 8 picnic tables and could hold 50 people, though I only entertained about half of that. Here was my view from...

The Gaylord Texan Experience

The Gaylord Texan is more than a hotel and convention center. It is a BEAUTIFUL metropolis. Really, once you reach the grounds you can easily spend a few days there without getting bored. Want to relax? There are lots of nooks and crannies on the grounds to hideaway and enjoy the lush landscape. Want to party? There is a nightclub, the Glass Cactus. There are 6 restaurants and 7 lounges, including a really nice sports bar with theatre seating, stores and a fabulous spa and fitness center. There is a great jogging trail and the compound sits on Lake...

With spring in the air, a lot of us are thinking of ways to freshen up our home décor and our look. And if you’re like me it’s hard to say exactly what I want before I can see it. So to help you out, here are a few sites I use for virtual makeovers. Bonus, all of them are super easy to use! Color-A-Room. Better Homes and Gardens has a great tool that allows you to color a room. Using one of their sample rooms you can choose paint, furniture and upholstery colors. I have spent many hours...

My “No-Guilt” Cocoa Snack

It’s no secret that I am a confessed Chocoholic. So, when Maricris of Zensible Mama invited me to a launch party for cocoa snack line Eat.Think.Smile.™ I was ECSTATIC. When I arrived at the event there was a Senior Nutrition Scientist from Hershey reviewing the antioxidant powers of natural cocoa. I thought, sure this is good to know, but I’d eat cocoa if it had NO nutritional value. Then I remembered I’m supposed to be working on making better food decisions so having positive ammunition for my snack choices would definitely be a plus! And I learned a lot....
