Girlfriends Day In, Healthy Living Party

This month’s Girlfriends Day In was a Healthy Living Party and we had a blast! This was an interactive party that led to laughs, eating, good conversations, green/healthy living tips and oh yeah… laughs. We started the party with a Pampered Chef Consultant walking us through a healthy pizza recipe and a CHOCOLATE fondue with only 80 calories per serving. I guess by this point everyone knows chocolate is a must for my get-togethers, . Then we made our own cleaning supplies using vinegar, baking soda, castile soap, water and essential oils. This was A LOT of fun! It...

Jewelry Exchange Party – Girls Night In

There is something about the shiny & sparkly section of stores that makes me adventurous. I imagine wearing jewelry that is huge and gaudy with my somewhat conservative wardrobe. I envision me walking into a club rocking something HOT… but totally not my style. This is where the jewelry exchange party came into play. After months (and sometimes years) of passing really nice pieces in my jewelry drawers it was obvious that I was never going to wear them. However, one of my friends might love it. So I invited some girlfriends over, asked them to bring some pieces...

Southern Women’s Show = Perfect Girlfriend Outing

TICKET GIVEAWAY!!! Whenever there’s an event that combines the things I love to do with my girlfriends I get excited. So, I am really looking forward to the Southern Women’s Show in Charlotte this year. It’s September 15-18th and here are the Top Four Things I’m most excited about:   Balance Your Life Pavilion. Lifetime TV’s “The BalancingAct” has a space that will include exhibits, sweepstakes and more. And yes, the show hosts will be there so there’s a possibility to be a part of a taping for the show.   Lowe’s Food Cooking Stage. Chefs will be preparing...

A Quick Yet Fabulous Brunch Menu

I love entertaining, but my schedule does not always allow me to fix a fancy spread. Here is my go-to brunch menu for an impromptu party that gets great reviews from my guests. It’s also a good base menu for a potluck gathering. Sliced Apples (or other seasonal fruit) and yogurt Trader Joe’s Spinach Pie Chicken strips (grilled or fried) Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Raisin bread Punch This simple menu takes about 15 minutes to prepare making it the perfect backdrop for girlfriend chatter, book clubs, laughs and quality time. The spinach pie also works well when you need to take...

Girls Night In: Comfort Food Party

The cold weather, short days of winter and my hectic schedule had me craving comfort food and a Girls Night In. So I invited a few girlfriends over for a night of girl talk, movies and great food. It was soooo much fun! The only rule was that no one could feel guilty about their food choices.     This was my first plate. Comfort food may not always make the prettiest picture, but it is definitely tasty (and comforting)!   This was my second. And yes, that is chicken pot pie and a slider on my chocolate plate....

Makeover Madness Party-Queen Style

I love scheduling reasons for my girlfriends to get together, so when I saw the chance to host one of Makeover Momma’s Makeover Madness Parties, I jumped on it. I mean really, what’s not glam about a Saturday afternoon of girlfriends, swag, beauty products, food and girl talk. And the swag was great! There were Onionhead dictionaries and cards, Smarty Pants vitamins and Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. There was also Beecology body wash, Lierac comfort peel , Radical Skincare Antioxidant Serum, June Jacobs exfoliating powder, Kelly VanGogh Couture Highlighting Kit, Three Seeds Moisturizing Cream, Reija Eden...

Girlfriends Party With A Purpose

When the opportunity to host a Johnson’s Girl Talk Cause Party was presented, I jumped on it because I wanted to host a girlfriend “gift-together” and I knew this would be a great opportunity to talk about Birthday Blessings (BB), one of the most amazing nonprofit organizations ever. Their mission includes celebrating, inspiring and supporting homeless children, and one way they do this is by throwing birthday parties. Before I learned of Birthday Blessings I never thought of a child not celebrating their birthday. The thought of that breaks my heart because birthdays are such a huge deal in...

Girls Morning Out at Cinzia Spa

Girls Morning Out at Cinzia Spa

I can always find a reason to try a new spa, so spending a weekend at Myrtle Beach with two of my best college friends definitely warranted a Girls’ Morning Out at the Spa. After reading reviews and researching services provided, I decided on Cinzia-The Spa at North Beach Plantation. When we walked in to Cinzia I knew it was a good choice. We were greeted in true southern fashion into a bright and airy lobby. As we were given a tour of the grounds, I was upset I didn’t plan to spend the day. Unlike many spas that I have visited, Cinzia...

My Take on Just Wright

My Take on Just Wright

Just Wright is a nice movie. Yes, you know how it ends before it begins. Yes, it has some clichés. But that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you connect to the characters, and from the beginning I liked Leslie (played by Queen Latifah) and Scott (played by Common). From the time they met until the closing credits, nothing happened to make me dislike either of them. Sure, there are some twists, but even through the twists I like them. I like that Leslie stayed true to who she was and that Scott loved her for all of...
