A few weeks ago I noticed my daffodils and daylilies were coming up… and it made me smile. The calendar said winter but my spring flowers said otherwise.
See, nature knows nothing of our calendar. March 20th doesn’t dictate when the flowers will come up or bloom. They take their cues from God.
He speaks and they listen. This reminded me that too often we rely on a calendar to tell us when to do something.
“Oh, it’s December, it’s the season for giving.” Or, “It’s Valentine’s Day, it’s time to show our family and friends we love them.”
In actuality we are to do these things all the time because if we listen to God he constantly reminds us of the importance of love. God shows us that if we listen to his cues, no matter what it looks like right now, we can bloom into something fabulously beautiful!
Now, I’m not saying this because I don’t believe in holidays or seasons. On the contrary, I love reasons to celebrate. I’m just saying we shouldn’t wait to do the right thing; we should do it when God tells us, whether it looks like the right time or not.
As spring starts you will see lots of articles about rejuvenation, fresh starts, etc. These are all good. But I encourage you to follow this motivation every day.
Each day is a fresh start. Each minute is an opportunity to start something fabulous and each second is precious.
Happy Spring!

That reminds me of one of my favorite poems. … it ends with “You can make a fresh start with your last breath”
I am also in NC – but Raleigh. Connecting with you through MBC!
