Going to the circus is a great family event. With all of the entertainment, snacks (cotton candy, anyone?) and festivities it’s perfect for all ages.
If your children have never been or if you just want to up the excitement factor, here are a few things you can do to prepare them for the circus:
Play a trivia game. Here are five Q&As to get you started (answers in purple):
- How many sets of teeth will an elephant have in its life? 6, 1, 10
- Which animal can see in the dark six times better than a human can? Tiger, Mole, Horse
- What is an elephant’s favorite food? Apples (not peanuts!) are their favorite food.
- A free pass to the circus is sometimes called? A Groucho Marx, A Bugs Bunny, An Annie Oakley
- The thin high wire on which daredevils walk in midair is made of what? Rope, Wood, Steel
Watch circus footage on YouTube. I like this Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus clip, but you can search for one if you want more. This is a great way to introduce your children to the idea and make sure they understand there will be large animals, people in costumes and flashing lights.
Do an arts and crafts project. These circus crafts are easy and fun. You can also print out the coloring sheet above.
We’ll be going to the circus next week when it comes to Charlotte. If you are in the area and want more info on the show or want to buy tickets go here: http://www.timewarnercablearena.com/page.aspx?section=events&pagetype=events&id=5351. Be sure to use the discount coupon code ZEBRA for $6 off each ticket.
Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: I received the opportunity to offer this discount to you, as well as complimentary tickets because of my participation as a Feld Family Activator. I have pledged to give my honest opinion of this event. As always, all opinions are mine, because I value your trust and I WILL NOT publish anything that I don’t believe.
